What an incredible evening! The McMichael Art Gallery was filled with an energy that celebrated the fusion of fashion and art. Canada’s top designers were selected by the Fashion Council of Canada for their extraordinary contributions and inaugurated as the contemporary Group of Seven.
Each designer showcased their creations with live models posed within a single colourful red frame paying homage to the vast and ever changing landscapes of Canada. While many studied the colourful designs in awe they were encouraged by fashion television personality and MC, Jeanne Beker, to think of the ongoing debate of whether or not fashion is in fact art. Based on the feedback and reactions it was crystal clear what the consensus was that evening.
Statum Designs Inc. was proud to contribute to Fashion as Art Exposed. Thank you to all those involved who took a break from creating furniture and used their upholstery skills to create the seven large frames for each designer’s work of art. A job well done!
